Chahta Warriors

The Chahta Warriors are a Native American, FIRST robotics team. Team members working with mentors experience engineering, programming, website design, and 3D animation creation all within a six week time frame.  Participating in regional events, each team has their own unique style and exchanges items that represent them. The Chahta Warriors exchange dream catchers to best represent their team motto, "So many dreams, So little time".

What is FIRST Robotics?

Founded by inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was created to inspire in young people, their schools, and communities an interest and appreciation of science and technology enriching the lives of all.

The robotics season begins each year in early January when a new challenging game is revealed. Teams then have six weeks to design, build, and computer program their remotely operational robot. Students work with adult mentors, learn what teamwork is all about, and meet deadlines while maintaining an attitude of gracious professionalism.

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Dr. Woodie Flowers, and a committee of engineers and other professionals.

FIRST redefines winning for these students because they are rewarded for excellence in design, demonstrated team spirit, gracious professionalism and maturity, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Scoring the most points is a secondary goal. Winning means building partnerships that last.

What is unique about the FRC program?

  • It is a sport where the participants play with the pros and learn from them
  • Designing and building a robot is a fascinating real-world professional experience
  • Competing on stage brings participants as much excitement and adrenaline rush as conventional varsity tournaments
  • The game rules are a surprise every year

To  view an animation of this year's challenge click the FIRST Breakaway logo below.

Breakaway is a game played on the field. Two alliances, one red and one blue, composed of three FIRST Robotics Competition teams each, compete in each match. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by shooting balls into a goal, climbing on the alliance tower or platform, or by lifting an alliance robot off the playing surface.

Team members answer the question,

"What does FIRST mean to you?".
